Many people are surprised to learn that they are not alone in the type of problems and issues they face. Discussing feelings with others who are struggling with the same problems can bring out relief from isolation, laughter, and support for one another. Hearing someone else talk about a situation that sounds shockingly close to your own, often makes the problem seem less burdensome.
In some aspects, participating in group therapy can be more therapeutic than individual counseling because problems discussed in a social context seem more like real life. People share techniques that worked for them while getting and receiving feedback on ideas. Group therapy is also less costly than one-on-one sessions.
